A College Student’s Guide to the City
Exploring Toledo, Ohio
Toledo, Ohio, may not be the first place you think of when it comes to college life, but trust me, it has a lot more to offer than you might expect. I grew up in the suburbs of Toledo, and I’ve discovered so many cool spots that make living in this city much more exciting than I thought it could be. From outdoor adventures to amazing food and a cozy, small-town feel, Toledo is full of hidden gems that will make your college years unforgettable. Here’s a quick guide to some of the best things to check out while you’re here!
Outdoor Adventures and Scenic Spots
Toledo has lots of great outdoor spots to explore. First up is the Maumee River, which runs right through the city. There are great walking trails, parks, and quiet areas where you can relax or hang out with friends. It’s the perfect place to take a break from studying.
Another must-see is the Toledo Museum of Art. It’s free, massive, and full of amazing artwork. It’s a great spot to spend a few hours and get inspired. If you’re into sports, be sure to visit Fifth Third Field to watch the Toledo Mud Hens play baseball or catch a Toledo Walleye hockey game at the Huntington Center. And don’t forget about the Toledo Zoo, which has incredible animals and beautiful gardens – it’s a fun place to visit for a day out. If you love pickleball, there are some really nice courts throughout the city! My personal favorite are the courts at Rotary Community Park in Perrysburg! Plus, there are indoor courts at The Toledo Pickle Co. I have not been to them, but they are definitely a hot topic in the area. There are also places around like Sportway with putt-putt (thats mini golf for those who call it that LOL) and go-karts! If you like to bowl there are many bowling lanes in the area! If you love golf, we’ve got that too!
And if all that is not enough, here’s a link with all the festivals, parades, marathons and much more throughout the year in Toledo, Ohio. There is something for every season.
There’s this saying that Toledo is the smallest, big city and the biggest, small city. Let me tell ya…I truly believe that! There is so much to do and see. Be sure to read my next post, where we I’ll share great places to eat and shop!
