My sin is so comfy!

I’ll be real with you: there have been times when I’ve found sin to be oddly comfortable. It’s easy to justify certain behaviors or stay in a place where things feel familiar—even if I know deep down it’s not what God wants for me. Sometimes sin feels like a cozy blanket, comforting and familiar, but just because it feels good doesn’t make it right.

What I’ve learned, though, is that comfort in sin is one of the most dangerous places to be. It’s easy to think that if it doesn’t feel that bad, then it must be okay. But sin is still sin, no matter how comfortable or “normal” it feels. Staying in that comfortable place can slowly pull me further away from God without even realizing it. The more I let myself stay there, the easier it gets to ignore the conviction of the Holy Spirit and just keep going.

Revere played a huge part in helping me understand this. While it’s easy to get comfortable in sin, Revere showed me that sin, no matter how "normal" or “harmless” it may seem, still separates me from God. I realized that the more I justify my actions, the more I normalize sin in my life. And the last thing I want is to let that distance grow between me and the One who loves me most. Revere helped me develop a healthy fear of God, meaning I recognize the respect He deserves and that sin isn’t something to take lightly.

Here’s the thing: fighting our flesh is a daily battle. Every day brings a choice to walk in the flesh or to walk in the Spirit. But Revere taught me that when I focus on Christ and take my eyes off the struggle of “not sinning,” something changes. I stop obsessing over trying to be perfect or avoiding every temptation, and instead, I focus on Him—His love, His sacrifice, and His grace. And as I do that, I naturally begin to look more like Him. The more I fix my eyes on Christ, the more His character starts to shape mine. It’s not about constantly trying to avoid sin, but about letting His love transform me from the inside out.

If you’ve found yourself getting too comfortable in sin, I encourage you to take a step back and reevaluate where you are. Ask God to show you a better way, and trust that He’s ready to help you turn from sin and embrace His grace. Revere helped me see how focusing on Christ is the key to living a life that honors God and keeps me on the right path.
